A Volvo dealership wanted a new bucket made to suit the newly launched Volvo EC550E excavator. The intention was to source a perfectly matched high-volume bucket to demonstrate the machine’s full potential.

The machine was fitted with a quick coupler to facilitate demonstration with a traditional bucket versus the XMOR® BHB bucket on the same day, at the same site, with the same operator, and on the same machine.

The traditional bucket had a capacity of 3.4 m³ at an empty weight of 4,220 kg. The XMOR® BHC60 bucket had a capacity of 4 m³ at an empty weight of 3,125 kg.

This clearly demonstrated that the machine consumed a similar amount of fuel with both buckets. However, since the XMOR® bucket was lighter when empty and had a higher payload capacity, the suspended load (bucket weight + ore material weight) remained at a similar total value.

As a result, the XMOR® bucket moved more material with the same fuel consumption, leading to an improved ton-per-liter efficiency.
